Toledo Campus Ministry (TCM) at The University of Toledo (UT) seeks a full-time Executive Director for a Christian/ecumenical ministry in Toledo, Ohio, starting in January  2013.  Funded by five mainline Protestant denominations and individual donors, TCM serves the entire university community and engages local congregations in its ministries.  Our priorities involve developing Authentic Community, Christian Servanthood, and Spiritual Formation in the lives of young adults.

TCM owns facilities located adjacent to the UT campus that house staff offices and meeting space for activities.   With Christ at its center, TCM provides a safe and welcoming place for all through its ministry on campus.

Qualifications

  • M.Div. from an accredited school of theological studies
  • Ordination in  good standing in one of the following denominations: American Baptist Church, Presbyterian Church USA, United Methodist Church, Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ
  • 5-8 years of full-time pastoral experience
  • Experience and interest in: working with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds,  nonprofit management and funds development, service and group dynamics, and pastoral care

Responsibilities

The Executive Director is responsible for providing vision and leadership for the Christian work and mission of the organization, with primary responsibility to:

  1. Primarily administer the work of Toledo Campus Ministry with undergraduate students on the campuses of  The University of Toledo on behalf of member denominations;

 

  1. Plan, develop and implement a relevant and vital student ministry;

 

  1. Develop and maintain a pastoral and theological presence on campus to enable a relevant University-wide ministry with concern for students, faculty, staff and administration;

 

  1. Work cooperatively with the TCM Board to recruit Board members and to guide the on-going development of Board members;

 

  1. Work cooperatively with the TCM Board, IFC Project, and Board committees in developing/ monitoring the budget, grant writing and fundraising;

 

  1. Identify, recommend for hire, and supervise TCM staff and volunteers;

 

  1. Develop an effective public relations and personal communication process;

 

  1. Facilitate and foster active contacts with the Ohio Campus Ministries, member denominations, local churches and local ecumenical and community groups;

 

  1. Assume other responsibilities as needed.

 

The University of Toledo is a student-centered, public, metropolitan research university with approximately 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students in 12 colleges. Established in 1872, it is one of 14 state universities in Ohio, and has been a member of the state university system since 1967.  Toledo, with a population of approximately 300,000, is situated on the banks of the Maumee River and the shores of Lake Erie in Northwest Ohio.

Compensation:  The compensation package includes allowances for base salary, housing, utilities, pension, and health insurance.  The total package will range from  $50,000 to $60,000
